Pub Crawl: &Union

This is the second of my posts on absolutely awesome places to watch Rugby. I have been fortunate enough to get a mate of mine to give me his story on why it rocks...simply because he is always there! It's that good.
You can visit them at 110 Bree Street Cape Town or go and check them out on www.andunion.com
DO IT!!

Why I watch sport at &union ... by Paul Snodgrass

It's one of the few places I've ever been to that a new customer can come in and feel like a local in an instant.

They have THE best prego rolls ever made, with only the best ingrediants, the hotdogs are amazing (AM_AY_ZING) have one during a rugby game, it'll make you feel like you 10 again watching rugby on a Saturday morning at your school.

I've watched cricket, rugby, football, the Tour de France, ah fuck it, name a sport, you'd probably get them to put on snooker or darts, just ask the guy at the till to change it to whatever channel you want. And they will.

On big rugby days, it gets nice and packed as well, not overly packed though, and it also doesn't have the drunk louty types coming through, so you can still swear at the TV, call a player and idiot, scream at the ref and there won't be any chance of an argy bargy afterwards.

Then there's the BEER, beautiful craft beer that makes your man balls tingle. They are all made over a period of up to 8 weeks in Bavaria, taste like it was made by angels and goes down so well. I reccomend the new one "Versus Goliath" for the rugby with a pulled pork sandwich, and then move onto the "Berne" for a post game celebration.

all in all, I go to &Union to watch sport cause even as a sports journo I find most of the people there are knowledgeable, fun, a little crazy, but never dodgy or irritating.

So next time there's a big Bok game playing, head down to &Union, if it's an early game have the 100% organic double espresso, and a bacon and egg toasted croissant. If it's a later game, get a bucket o love (3 beers in a bucket) and a sandwich. Oh and if you bring your lady friend, get her to try the margarita, she'll love you for it. then get her a bottle of "Alphabetical" the manager Simon's own brand of red wine (shhhhh, don't tell the ladies, but it's a panty dropper, tried and tested by yours truly)
